Movement #TamoJunto9ºano

The #TamoJunto9ºano movement began in 2016 with the meeting of institutions involved in developing the quality of education in the territories of Niterói and São Gonçalo: the Jelson da Costa Antunes Institute (IJCA), the Niterói Municipal Department of Education, Science and Technology, the São Gonçalo Municipal Department of Education, the Federal Institute of Rio de Janeiro – São Gonçalo Campus and Paiol Cultural.

The result of cross-sector partnerships, it is a plural and, above all, supra-partisan organization whose guiding principles are: valuing youth protagonism and quality public education; dialogue and listening in participatory processes; and transparency in public-private agreements.

Since the beginning, the #TamoJunto9ºano movement has celebrated a Proposed Agenda that has already promoted different actions in the municipalities of Niterói and São Gonçalo:

  • The creation and maintenance of preparatory centers for public high school selection exams;
  • The Morning of the Future (Niterói) and Afternoon of the Future (São Gonçalo) events are aimed at teenagers, with dialog, information and guidance for students in formats that value debate, creativity and exchange between young people, sharing their trajectories and prospects for the future;
  • The Seminar for the Valorization of Public Education, aimed at teachers and collaborators working in Rio de Janeiro’s performance network.
  • The movement also produces and disseminates training and information content, broadening young people’s knowledge of the opportunities and profile of secondary schools, as well as their direct involvement in the production of participatory videos, a methodology and tool for participatory education and communication in which young people lead the process of producing content and mobilizing students from the public school system.

After three years of intense work, the movement is beginning to understand its vocation to promote public policies that will result in an improvement in the quality of education in the territories of Niterói and São Gonçalo. Thus, in addition to the objective of contributing to the access and permanence of 9th grade students in the schooling process.
