Strengthening Trajectories

Fortalecendo Trajetórias is a permanent program of social and pedagogical support and accompaniment with referrals to the social assistance network for young people who are at crucial moments in their lives: the transition from elementary school to secondary school and from secondary school to university. Fortalecendo Trajetórias is divided into two phases: school reinforcement and social and pedagogical support.

School reinforcement

The school reinforcement program operates in two stages, the first of which is designed to reinforce the student’s learning, working directly on the areas where there is the greatest academic deficit. In this stage, the subjects of Portuguese Language and Mathematics are worked on for two months.

School Preparation
Preparatory School is a continuation of the School Reinforcement Program, which prepares students for future exams at quality public schools such as IFRJ, Pedro II, etc. Over the course of five months, the subjects of Portuguese Language and Mathematics are worked on.

Social and Pedagogical Support
The second phase of Strengthening Trajectories consists of global accompaniment and various forms of support for students throughout secondary school between public schools and private partner schools. In addition to this support, the program strives to be by the young person’s side at all times, accompanying them every step of the way, from joining the program to going to university. In this sense, the IJCA plays the role of fostering a set of converging partnerships: with the young person, their family and the school that receives them.

Who can take part?
The selection processes for the Strengthening Trajectories Program include 9th grade and 1st grade students from the public schools in Niterói, São Gonçalo, Itaboraí and Maricá. Every year, the JCA Institute publishes a call for applications. Follow the websites and social networks to find out when the selection process will start.
